Activity Description

Day 1 – Sofia – Rila monastery – Sofia (apr. 250 km)
The your guide meet the group in Sofia airport. Transfer to the 5-star hotel. Check-in.

The tour starts from noon: Departure from Sofia to Rila monastery. When finished with Rila monastery, back to Sofia. Free time. Overnight at 5-star hotel. 

Rila Monastery (UNESCO) was founded in the 10th century by St John of Rila, a hermit canonized by the Orthodox Church. His ascetic dwelling and tomb became a holy site and were transformed into a monastic complex which played an important role in the spiritual and social life of medieval Bulgaria. Destroyed by fire at the beginning of the 19th century, the complex was rebuilt between 1834 and 1862. A characteristic example of the Bulgarian Renaissance (18th–19th centuries), the monument symbolizes the awareness of a Slavic cultural identity during the centuries of Ottoman occupation.

Day 2 – Sofia – Koprivshtitsa – Thracian Tomb of Kazanlak – Stara Zagora mineral baths (apr. 270 km)
On this day you will depart from Sofia to Koprivshtitsa, from there you will visit the Thracian Tomb of Kazanlak, along with the Valle of the Kings. Overnight at 5-star hotel. 

Koprivshtitsa from the Bulgarian word for "nettle", is a historic town in the Koprivshtitsa Municipality in Sofia Province, central Bulgaria, lying on the Topolnitsa River among the Sredna Gora mountains. It was one of the centres of the April uprising in 1876 and is known for its authentic Bulgarian architecture and for its folk music festivals, making it a very popular tourist destination.

The Kazanlak Tomb, UNESCO world heritage site, is based on its architectural outlook, it belongs to the dome tombs, typical for the Thracian funeral architecture from the end of the 5th and the beginning of the 3rd century BC. The Valley of the Kingsis full of remains. There you will see different tomb of different kings ruled the Thracian territories during the ages. 

Day 3 – Stara Zagora mineral baths – Ethnographic complex Etar – Tryavna – Veliko Tarnovo (apr. 160km) 
From Stara Zagora mineral baths to the ethnographic complex Etar, where you can taste traditional Bulgarian candy and see the old Bulgarian architecture and streets of cobblestone, followed by the same features in the town of Tryavna. Included lunch in Tryavna in a local restaurant with amazing view. Overnight in Veliko Tarnovo.

Architectural-Ethnographic Complex Etara is an open-air museum and a neighbourhood of Gabrovo in northern Bulgaria. It presents the Bulgarian customs, culture and craftsmanship. It spans over an area of 7 ha and contains a total of 50 objects, including water installations and houses with craftsmen's workshops attached. As a whole, the complex's goal is to illustrate the architecture, way of life and of Gabrovo and the region during the Bulgarian National Revival.  

Tryavna is a town in Northern Bulgaria, near Gabrovo. It is famous for its textile industry and typical National Revival architecture, featuring 140 cultural monuments, museums and expositions.

Day 4 – Veliko Tarnovo – Arbanasi – Veliki Preslav – Varna (apr. 250 km)
In Veliko Tarnovo you will visit the Tsarevets fortress. The next destination is the village of Arbanasi with its museums, after which you will have wine tasting in Lyaskovets. The last site for this day is the fortress of one of the medieval Bulgarian capitals – Veliki Preslav. Overnight in Varna at 5-star hotel.

The village of Arbanasi is located on a high plateau 5 km from the city of Veliko Tarnovo. It is known that the village existed during the time of the Second Bulgarian State (1185 – 1393). At that time the Bolyari (nobles), living in the capital Tarnovo, used it as a summer residence. According to the legend, the Tsar of Tarnovo minted coins here.  

Veliki Preslav was known as a spiritual and literature center, where the development of the Slavic written language and the Golden Age of Bulgaria during the rule of Tsar Simeon I (who reigned in the period 893 – 927) took place.

Tsarevets is a medieval stronghold located on a hill with the same name in Veliko Tarnovo in northern Bulgaria. Tsarevets is 206 metres above sea level. It served as the Second Bulgarian Empire's primary fortress and strongest bulwark from 1185 to 1393, housing the royal and the patriarchal palaces, and is a popular tourist attraction.

Day 5 – Varna – Balchik – Nessebar – Burgas (apr. 240 km)
Breakfast in Varna and then – departure to Balchik. There you will visit the Botanical garden and the Palace of Princess Marie of Edinburgh. From there you will head to Nessebar and visit the beautiful Old town of Nessebar, which is a part of the World heritage of UNESCO. Overnight in Burgas at 5-star hotel.

The University Botanical Garden in Balchik was established in 1955 by Acad. Prof. Daki Jordanov on the territory of the park of the former summer residence of Queen Marie of Romania. Today the Botanical Garden spreads over an area of 190,000 m² and accommodates collections with over 3500 plant species.  

The Palace in Balchik is the former summer residence of the Romanian Queen Maria Alexandrina Victoria de Edinburg (1875 – 1938). It is situated approximately 2 km south-west of Balchik in a beautiful locality between the Balchik rocks and the sea. The Palace is a designated archaeological and constructional monument of culture and a monument of the gardening and landscape art. Just next to the terraces is formed beautiful waterfall, with a height of 25 meters. Another smaller waterfall lours from "Allah’s garden” through thick wall to three-flow fountain into a deep stone pool.  
Nesebar is one of the most ancient towns in Europe, founded 3200 years ago. During Antiquity the town was called Mesembria, in the middle Ages it was known as Mesemvria, and it was later renamed to Nesebar. Numerous archeological finds provide evidence of the centuries-old history of ancient Nesebar. Ever since it was founded, the town has always been surrounded by fortification walls, some remains of which have survived to this day.

Day 6  – Burgas - Plovdiv (apr. 270 km)
Breakfast. Departure from Burgas to Plovdiv. Full day tour of Plovdiv - the "art” neighborhood Kapana, the Rowing Base, the Old City of Plovdiv, the Roman theatre and of course – the pedestrian central street. In the evening you will have two options – you can stay at the hotel and rest or come with us and take a walk to the Tsar Simeonova Garden in which we will see the famous Singing fountains, beautifully lighted with colours and other monuments. Overnight in Plovdiv at 5-star hotel. 

Plovdiv is the second-largest city in Bulgaria. It is situated in a fertile region of south-central Bulgaria on the two banks of the Maritsa River. The city has historically developed on seven syenite hills, some of which are 250 metres high. Because of these hills, Plovdiv is often referred to in Bulgaria as "The City of the Seven Hills". Plovdiv is the European capital of culture for 2019.  

The old town in Plovdiv is an architectural and historical reserve located on three of Plovdiv's hills: Nebet Tepe, Dzhambaz Tepe and Taksim Tepe. The complex has been formed as a result of the long sequence of habitation from prehistoric times to present day and combines the culture and architecture from Antiquity, Middle Ages and Bulgarian revival. The old town in Plovdiv is included in UNESCO World Heritage tentative list since 2004.

The Roman theatre of Plovdiv is one of the world's best-preserved ancient theatres, located in the city center of Plovdiv, Bulgaria. It was constructed in the 90s of the 1st century AD, probably under the rulership of Emperor Domitian.

Day 7  – Plovdiv – Sofia (apr. 160 km)
Breakfast. Departure from Plovdiv to Sofia. Full day tour of Sofia – National Museum of History, the Boyana Church, then panoramic tour on foot, during which you will see the main sights – Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the Parliament, Banya Bashi Mosque, The Synagogue, the National Theatre. Optional folklore dinner in the hotel. Overnight in Sofia at 5-star hotel.

The St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is a Bulgarian Orthodox cathedral in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. Built in Neo-Byzantine style, it serves as the cathedral church of the Patriarch of Bulgaria and it is one of the largest Christian church buildings, as well as one of Sofia's symbols and primary tourist attractions. The St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Sofia can hold 5,000 people inside. It is one of the largest Eastern Orthodox Cathedrals and church buildings in the world and third-largest Orthodox Cathedral located in Southeast Europe.

The Boyana Church is a medieval Bulgarian Orthodox church situated on the outskirts of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, in the Boyana quarter. In 1979, the building was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The National Historical Museum in Sofia is Bulgaria's largest museum. It was founded on 5 May 1973. A new representative exhibition was opened in the building of the Court of Justice on 2 March 1984, to commemorate the 13th centenary of the Bulgarian state.

Day 8 End of experience – departure.
