Activity Description
Day 1. ZAGREB
Welcome to Croatia!
Your transfer will await you upon your arrival at airport. Today, you will uncover
the secrets of the Croatian capital city of Zagreb on this enjoyable walking
tour. Soak in the history and culture of this medieval city as you stroll down
the cobbled streets of its old town area. Explore ancient buildings and
courtyards as you learn about the many legends associated with this city.
Mingle with the locals at Dolac market as you make your way through displays of
fresh and fragrant produce. Hop onto the funicular for a quick ride to the
picturesque Upper Town area. Breathe in the fresh air as you amble around the
famous Lenuci Horseshoe, a network of city squares with verdant parks. Admire
the exquisite architecture of the city cathedral, the National Theater, and
Zagreb University before you wind down your tour. Overnight at hotel.
Day 2. VARAŽDIN &
TRAKOŠĆAN CASTLE
Explore the
charming city of Varaždin, also known as 'Little Vienna,' famous for its young
people, music, flowers and bicycles! Stroll through the streets and admire the
Baroque and Rococo style architecture while you listen to your local guide tell
you all about the rich history and culture of the city. Enjoy the sights of
majestic Baroque palaces, churches and monasteries. Visit the City Museum,
interestingly housed in The Old Town, a Gothic-Renaissance Fortress on the
water. Go through its rooms furnished in period-style and past exhibits
featuring old artifacts, signet rings, sceptres and valuable guild collections.
Head to the tranquil cemetery to witness its beautifully designed tombstones
and idyllic tree-lined paths. From Varaždin, make your way to one of the most
beautiful Croatian castles, Trakošćan, with a known history dating back to the
14th century. Return to Zagreb, overnight at hotel.
Day 3. UNESCO
NATIONAL PARK PLITVICE LAKES
Spend a day at Plitvice Lakes National Park, declared a UNESCO World
Heritage site. On arrival, pause a moment and take in the breathtaking vista of
16 crystal clear lakes inter-connected by a chain of roaring waterfalls. Then,
choose one of the many trails crisscrossing the length and breadth of the vast
national park and get going. Explore the lakes and streams carved out of the
woodlands over the centuries and walk beneath the cascading waterfalls. Listen
to the cries of rare birds and learn about the rich wildlife from your guide,
as you capture the scenic beauty on camera to carry back and relive at home. Return to Zagreb, overnight at hotel.
